Implants

Missing a tooth or had one that couldn’t be saved? Whether it’s deep decay, an injury, or a congenitally missing tooth, dental implants at Pembroke Square Dental in Pembroke Pines can restore your smile with a solution that looks, feels, and functions like a natural tooth.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone to act as a new tooth root. After it bonds with your bone (a process called osseointegration), we attach a custom abutment and crown on top for a seamless, long-term replacement. Implants can support a single tooth, a bridge, or even implant-supported dentures.

Who is a good candidate?

You may be a strong candidate if you:

  • Are in generally good health
  • Have healthy gums (or are willing to treat gum disease first)
  • Have adequate bone for support (or are open to bone grafting/sinus lift if needed)
  • Commit to excellent home care and regular dental visits
  • Don’t smoke or are willing to pause/quit (smoking slows healing)

We’ll evaluate your medical history, gums, and bone levels to confirm the best plan.

What to expect (timeline varies by case)

  • Consultation and planning: Exam, imaging, and treatment planning. If a tooth needs removal, we’ll discuss timing, grafting, and temporary options.
  • Implant Placement: Under local anesthesia, the implant is gently placed into the jawbone. The site is closed and allowed to heal for about 3-5 months (location and health dependent).
  • Healing check: We confirm integration (that the implant is solidly fused). A small healing cap shapes the gum for the final crown.
  • Impression & custom parts: We take a precise impression/scan to design your custom abutment and porcelain crown so it blends with adjacent teeth.
  • Crown delivery:The healing cap is removed, the site is cleaned, and your final components are placed. We verify fit with an X-ray and adjust your bite for comfort.
Note: Final crowns may be screw-retained or cement-retained—we’ll choose what’s best for your case.
  • Temporary tooth while you heal: flipper (removable), clear retainer with a tooth, or case-dependent temporaries to maintain your smile.

Benefits of dental implants

  • Natural look & feel: Matches neighboring teeth
  • Stability for chewing & speaking—no slipping
  • Preserves bone where the tooth was lost
  • Protects adjacent teeth (no need to shave teeth for a bridge)

Aftercare & longevity

Mild soreness is common for a few days. Stick to soft foods at first, then return to normal as comfort allows. Brush and floss daily (including around the implant), and keep up with professional cleanings. With good care, implants can last many years—even decades.

No. Implants replace missing roots; if a tooth can’t be saved predictably, an implant is often the best replacement.
